"Buyer beware: you will not receive the support they advertise, and you will be responsible for managing every step of the process if anything goes wrong. We have had State Farm as our insurance provider for multiple policies over the past two years, and the customer service has been a joke. During that time, we have spoken to our agent only a handful of times: to set up the policies initially, after property damage from a fire (which was not our home), and most recently following a car accident (in which we were not at fault). When our neighbor’s home burned down, a portion of our fence was damaged and needed repair. We contacted Alan Gubler’s office and were told that we needed to reach out to the homeowner of the destroyed property ourselves to obtain any information regarding the fence repair. We were unable to get in contact with any insurance company, and as a result, we now have to replace the fence ourselves, out of pocket. In other words, we were expected to do all the legwork and file our own claims to resolve the issue, receiving zero assistance from Mr. Gubler’s office despite multiple attempts to get guidance. More recently, we were involved in a fender bender. The other driver was found at fault at the time of the accident, and their insurance company accepted liability. When I called Mr. Gubler’s office the next day, I was again told that we needed to work directly with the other driver’s insurance. We were also informed that IF we tried to go through State Farm, it would hit my record, and they would attempt to assist us. Highlighting that it could take up to a year to have our deductible reimbursed, even though the other insurance company had already accepted liability. Once again, we were left to do the work that an insurance company should handle. We have received absolutely no support from either the staff or Mr. Gubler himself, and no one can be contacted after hours. We are also unable to do anything online—such as getting quotes when purchasing a new car, reporting accidents, or requesting assistance —unless it is Monday–Friday during business hours, and they operate on a bank holiday schedule. We thought we were saving money with State Farm, but instead, we have spent more than we would have with any other insurance company we’ve ever used. Your insurance company/agent should help you after the worst days in your car or home, not make you feel you are doing it all alone."
We responded:
"Hi Molly, thank you for taking the time to provide feedback to our office. I apologize for any misunderstanding on our part. My office never wants to deter any insured from ever filing a claim under their policy in the event of a loss. As an agency, we try to educate our insureds about coverages and give suggestions when needed. I have and will continue to talk with any of my insureds to make sure they understand the claims process and give my suggestions and help out in any way that I can. I do know sometimes I have insureds that will get a contractor’s bid to see if the repairs are going to be below their homeowner's insurance deductible before filing a claim. In that way, the claim doesn’t go on their record. Also dealing with subrogation and getting your deductible back depends on when State Farm closes the claim, and if they find it feasible, they will try. If they can get your deductible back, I’ve seen it take a few months or even up to a year depending on how hard it is to investigate who was liable in the car accident. "I honestly don’t even know where to start because working with Jesica has been one of the best customer service experiences I’ve ever had! And… this is insurance we’re talking about, which is not something people usually get excited about. But somehow she made the entire process smooth, stress-free, and dare I say… enjoyable.
